Program
Rita Reed introduced Dana Johnson. Dana brought the Make-A-Wish story to the Club. The Northeast Arkansas chapter is the only region in our three state region that is fully funded. All money that is raised here goes to a child in our area.
The mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening diseases. It is not necessarily for only terminal diseases. There were 14 children who were told they would have less than 30 days to perform the wish. Of those, 13 are still living. This goes to show, children can overcome. Hopefully, Make-A-Wish has a little something to do with adding hope to the kids.
Some of the children that have had wishes granted and they have overcome and are now grown up and have come back to volunteer.
The radio-thon will be February 10, the week before Valentine’s Day on all Triple FM stations. Last year, we generated $122k. We are trying to grant 38 wishes over the year. There are over 300 children are eligible for wishes. For whatever reason, the others are not being referred. If you know of a child that might be eligible, have them call the office and they will take it from there.
