Vocational Minute  - Joy Vaupel has been in the real estate business for 27 years and an Executive Broker with Fred Dacus for the last 17.  She hold open house, gives tours of Jonesboro for local businesses.  Part of her business involves knowing different people in the electrical/plumbing/remodeling business who can help prospective home owners.

 

Outstanding Seniors

Matt Garner, senior at Jonesboro High School, told the club that his dad was his first coach.  He shared a picture of himself at age one playing basketball.  He goes to the Trim Gym every morning at 5:45 and trains, goes to school, practices with the basketball team for 2 ½ hours each day and then goes home and shots 300 to 400 baskets.  He has a 3.9 grade point and is a member of the Interact Club, National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.  He plans to attend Hendrix College.

 

Casper Huber, a senior at Ridgefield, was introduced by Pam Kail.  He is member of the Interact Club and has a 4.0 grade point.

*****Glenn Bowers – 245 Boston Butts have been sold,  He thanked everyone for their hard work.

 

 

****Pam Kail – Reminded volunteers to make sure they remember to come work on Saturday.  Seasoning @ 6:30 am, wrapping @ 3:00 pm, and deliveries @ 3:30 pm.

*****Pam Kail – A joint Rotary tailgate party will be held before the Troy State football game at the ASU Pavilion beginning at 4:00.  Tickets will be available to purchase.

*****Shelia Tipton – Sign-up sheets are on the tables for the Oktoberfest Social at the Arnolds at 6:00 after the Butt Roast.  Bring your lawn chairs and a dish.

*****Glenn Bowers – Rotary Christmas Party will be held December 6th at Jay Clevenger’s home.  More information to follow.

*****Bob Rubenstein – A group of Rotarians were leaving Monday for Bay St, Louis to meet with the mayor.  Plans are being made to provide Thanksgiving Dinner for 6000 people.  He will have more to report when he returns.

*****Charles Harris – his wife, Susan, completed her last chemo treatment

 

Chris Blanchard Memorial Football Picks -  There was a 10 way tie and Brian Gibson was the winner

 

Program – Vocational Excellence Award was given to George Stem.  Beverly Edens shared that he is the father of two children and the grandfather of seven.  As a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church, he has been active in mission efforts at the church.  Additionally he is active in Habitat for Humanity. George is a pilot and helped with the rescue efforts during Hurricane Katrina.  His high ethical standards in his professional and private life are examples of the Rotary Four Way Test.
