VOCATIONAL MINUTE
Miss Dosha Cummins hails from the great state of Mississippi and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and the University of Mississippi Medical Sciences and Pharmacy, where she earned a Medical Degree.  She is serving in her 10th year at AHEC Northeast, located at St Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro where she is an educator in Clinical Pharmacy as she instructs and teaches Interns and Residents Drug Therapy Education.  Dosha has several areas of outreach and responsibility at AHEC, but 2 areas she avails herself to are: (1) a resource of answering questions pertaining to drug administration;  (2) lecturing through the university community and teaching those who are still learning.  Dosha's goal is to teach to "Do Drugs Correctly."
Thanks, Dosha, for all that you do in our community and in our club.

PROGRAM
Dave Davidson introduced Jay Cook to the club.  Jay  is an ASU assistant basketball coach who was speaking to club and bringing greetings from coach Dickey Nutt.  Coach Cook was a former player at ASU and was promised by Dickety Nutt to have the opportunity to someday return to his college alma mater and coach.  Jay began his employment at ASU on January 4, 2005, and on January 5, 2005, the entire staff left him as they hit the road to recruit.  Jay announced to the club that he and his family are eternally grateful to be in Jonesboro and at ASU.
Regarding the upcoming season:  It will be difficult to replace Montgomery and Spencer, but there are fresh horses in the stable: Witherspoon, Wells, Little and Nichols are rearing to go.  Brandon Ballard, true freshman from Buffalo Island Central in Craighead County, will be counted on early for help.  Other players mentioned by coach Cook are Ashton Farmer and Jim Jones, JUCO from North Carolina.  The schedule had not been announced by Thursday morning, but coach announced that it will be a challenging one.
Questions: What will University of New Orleans do this season for games?
Probably not play in New Orleans.  The team is currently practicing at Tyler Junior College, but will field a team.
Q: League Favorites?  Western Kentucky and ULL.  ASU is picked from 2nd to last in various polls.  coach Cook promised a sweep of UALR.
Q: Recruiting:  Going well.  There have been several home visits and 2-3 commitments so far, looking toward early signing.  Differnce makers are being highly recruited.  Good Luck Coach Cook and ASU Indians.

CHRIS CARLISLE PARK  WORK DAY
Andy Grumbles announced a work day for Saturday, Sept 17 at 9:00 a.m. The following persons went out and weeded, pruned, shoveled, hoed, raked, hauled, planted and mumified the place with fall mums:  Glenn and Pam Bowers, Dosha Cummins, Andy Grumbles, Shelia Tipton (and Oscar the wennnie dog), Rob Delaney, James McDaniel, Margaret Holloway, Jerry Smith, and Rick Carter.  The park is looking better following the tidyying up.  A new approach is in the offing for CCPark.  It is in the early stages of talk now and as news develops the club will be brought up to speed.  Thanks to Andy and Dosha for the hard work on mobilizing the members for the upkeep of the park.

BOSTON BUTT
There will be a Boston Butt Sale on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Arnolds Home on E. Nettleton.  More details will be given.  Recall that the format has changed concerning the cooking schedule:  We now put on the butts for cooking at appx. 6:00 a.m. and remove them about 2:00 p.m.ish for wrapping and delivery.  There will be an OCTOBERFEST celebration that day.  Get ready for good food, drink and fun.

HANCOCK COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI RELIEF FROM HURRICANE
Jerry Smith gave an update to the club and announced that Thursday evening (9/15/05) URC members would gather at the ASU Economic Bldg on Krueger Drive to sort, pack and load for transport to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  (I am really reluctant to name names here for FEAR of leaving someone out.  I failed to write down the names of those dear URC members who worked at the center last Thursday evening.  If I omit your name, you look me up and whip me with a switch from the nearest tree.  I apologize in advance if I should not remember all who was there.  here goes.) Those members who worked are: Terry Bare and son, Glenn and Pam Bowers, Rick and Diane Carter,  Gary Childers, Lee Simpson, Jerry Smith and daughter, Brent Stidman, wife Joyce and both sons, Dosha Cummins, Rob Delaney, Len and Renea Frey and daughter, Shelia Harrison, Margaret Holloway, Pam Kail, Mary Merrill, Jake and June Morse, Bob Rubenstein, Tommie Holmes.  ! And I am sure others who I simply could not recall.  However, we did send the FOURTH tractor-trailer rig south with a full load of items for the citizens to have in their recovery effort.  There will be another work night real soon.  Be prepared to do it all over again.   Thanks again for your response.  (I was told URC responded exceptionally well.)

DR. JOE STALLINGS IN THE MUCK OF THINGS
"It's an honor to be a Rotarian" is how Dr. Joe began his moments of report and public thanks to his "heros."
Dr. Joe and 3 AHEC residents arrived in Baton Rouge on Friday following the Monday hurricane.  They established the first medical clinic in a Red Cross shelter which served about 5000 refugees.  They took a truck load of supplies with them and one vehicle even transported 45 gallons of highly flammable gasoline, because they were unsure of the supply along the route.
Dr. Joe listed the following heros for their unwavering support to the mission:
St Bernards Medical Center who absolutely opened up its central supply and gave them carte blanche to all contents thereof;  U-Haul who gave them free use of the trailer(s) used for the journey;  Wal-Mart and Rite Aide Pharmacies who gave untold amounts of medicines and drugs for treating the patients at the center clinics;  Sheraton Hotel who kept their kitchen and feeding facilities opened 24-7 to feed the volunteers who came to assist.  Dr. Joe reported that the team treated all who needed service from infants to oldsters and thanked the club for the support it gave.
