Rotary Roundup

The Weekly Newsletter of the Rotary Club of Jonesboro-University
Jonesboro, ArkansasAugust 18, 2005

Prayer:   Beverly Edens
Pledge: Brad Barnett

Margaret Holloway introduced Jason Whitley, the Manager of the Mall at Turtle Creek.  Jason arrived in May and has loved the community.  He moved here from Panama City, Florida.

Target and J.C. Penney will open the first week in October.  Dillard’s will open March 29.  Chili’s Chuck e Cheese, Red Lobster and Chik-Fil-A will be joining.  Bed Bath and Beyond, Circuit City, Barnes and Noble and Joseph A. Banks will be at Turtle Creek.

This is the only enclosed mall scheduled to open in the United States next year.  There will be 24-hour a day security.  There will be 4,500 parking spaces.  Most of the mall should open by the end of March.

They are doing preliminary site work for the East Matthews extension to the mall.  They would like to have the road opened for construction traffic prior to the opening of the mall.

This is a very family-oriented community.  There will be over $100k spent on a play area at the mall for children.  They fully anticipate Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and all sorts of special events for families.  They really want it to be a community citizen.

Vocational Minute

Jesse Stafford is a Certified Public Account and manages Stafford CPA.  They have been in business 28 years.  They do financial statement preparation, tax work and consulting.
