Meeting March 22, 2007

Tim Allison led the prayer and Glenn Bowers led the pledge.

President Rusty introduced Beverly Edens guest, husband Kim Edens.  Jerry Smith had a makeup.  No visiting Rotarians.

There were no Super Seniors visiting the meeting due to spring break.  Lucky dogs!!!

Glenn Bowers announced that since Rob Delaney had moved we needed another board member for the 2007-2008 year.  Sam Wright has accepted the position.

President Rusty talked about membership.  We are down four members and we need to be plus one member at least at the end of the year to be eligible for club of the year.  A social event is being planned for early April possibly at 501 Club.  Please think about bringing guests that will be good prospects for the club to this social.  More details to follow later.

Our annual awards banquet will be Thursday, June 28 at the Jonesboro Country Club.  This is a fun time for all so please mark your calendars now and plan to attend.  More details to follow later.

Ken Stacks reported on baseball ticket sales.  If you need additional tickets please see Jerry Smith.  If you need to turn in money see Teresa Ashley.  Tickets and money have to be turned in by the April 19 meeting as the drawings are at District Assembly on April 21.  Also Ken has 100 tickets left for the Cardinals vs. Cubs game Saturday, April 28.  Please call Ken if you need tickets.

Charles Harris collected good news.  Jayni Blackburn will be a first time grandmother this fall sometime around November.  Joe Stallings reported that the AHEC program will have 6 residents coming late June or early July.

Dave Davidson introduced the program which was Sonny Burgess.  Sonny is a local rock and roller that has played with bands for over 50 years.  His current band is Sonny and the Pacers.  They have played for many including the Library of Congress and Memphis in May.  The band has been inducted in the Arkansas Hall of Fame and will soon be inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.  He has played with artists over the years which include Louis Armstrong, Dorsey Brothers, Glen Miller Band, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen.  He has a radio show on KASU on Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  He has certainly had a wonderful career!!!

Tamara Jansen led the four way test.  Next meeting Thursday, March 29.  See you then!
