Super Seniors
Emily Cranfill (parents Sandy and Dennis in attendance) is a senior at JHS, where she has a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society treasurer, Beta Club, Student Council, choir, and class secretary. She is also very involved with Interact, and is the vice-president. Emily has worked with the local PACES program, as well as the Miracle Rodeo. She plans to attend the University of Tulsa, but is unsure of her major at this point.
Dia Gibson (Kent and Danna) is a senior at Nettleton. She is Student Council president, class president, and treasurer of the National Honor Society. This year the student council sponsored “Turkey Trot,” and raised enough money to endow a scholarship in memory of Adam Herrington. They also raised money for Dyanne’s House. Dia plans to attend Harding University and major in physical therapy.
Induction of New Members
President Rusty Clark inducted four new members:
Lisa Lynn (James McDaniel) - Lisa is the advertising director for The Sun. She was a Rotarian in Calcutta, Ohio, and moved here from Missouri.
Denise Poindexter (Ken Stacks) – Denise was a member of the GSE team that visited England. She is originally from McCrory and works in admission at ASU.
Gene Renshaw (Ken Stacks) – Gene and his wife Nancy have three children. Gene has a background in construction and real estate, and currently works at Trust, LLC.
Christopher Clark (Rusty Clark) - Christopher received his education at ASU and is currently the community relations director at Barnes and Noble. He is also an avid Star Wars fan.
Announcements
Rita announced that tomorrow is the “Have A Heart” wish-a-thon for Make-A-Wish. Don’t forget to participate. Rusty shared a thank you note pertaining to our support of the wish for Gage last August.
Rusty acknowledged our club committed contribution to the Rotary Foundation; we have given over $8000.00!!
POG ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Program – Sherri Beatty, Director of the Jonesboro Arts Foundation
Club members were treated to a theatrical preview of “Aladdin, Junior,” which open next week at the Forum. Cast members John Abernathy an Jay Lee performed.
The Foundation is housed downtown in The Forum. It has existed for over twenty years, and currently offer a classic film series, community theater, and classes in dance, art, theater and music to the public. Sherri offered to donate tickets to for our POG prizes (Thanks!).
The Arts building on mainstreet is the location for many of the Foundation’s activity. The facility is bursting at the seams due to a large interest in the programs. Currently over 600 people a year participate in various activities.
The dates for “Aladdin, Jr.” are February 24th (7:00pm), February 25th (2:00pm), and February 26th (7:00pm). Tickets are $6 for children, $7 for senior citizens, and $8 for adults.
Good News
Brian Gibson announced that his son Mark has been named a National Merit finalist. Daughter Mallory has been designed as a summer intern at Goldman Sachs.
Alan McVeigh reported on a successful Camp Enterprise, and thanked those who helped.
Josh Fletcher told the club that the Cub Scout banquet Monday night was successful, with 33 in attendance. Jay Clevenger mentioned something about the butt of a joke and a tiger skit…
Bob Rubenstein and Bear Reed reported on a successful fly fishing adventure. Lots of money was contributed to the club today related to fly fishing… He mentioned several upcoming events where he will be participating/featured. I’m sorry your scribe didn’t catch all the details.
Bob stressed that Bear is indeed a patient man. He’s also very talented. (Thanks for donating prizes!!)
