Program
Dave Davidson introduced the program. Gary Harpole Marx and Too Tall Paul Holmes spoke about their roles at Northeast Arkansas Business Today. Gary and Phil Phillips are publishers and Paul is th! e editor of the newspaper. The publication was 18 months in the planning. The regional newspaper did not adequately cover the area’s business interests and Arkansas Business hardly covered Northeast Arkansas at all. Gary mentioned 2 goals of the paper: stories about the average businessperson that others had not heard about; and a resource for change and advancement. There will be 10,000 copies of the paper distributed in January. The paper is now the largest business publication printed in Arkansas.
Paul spoke about the impact the newspaper has on the region from updates about the Marion Auto Plant possibilities to the potential in the 9 counties covered by NEABT. Paul offered his opinion on some of the top priorities for NEA to attract business and sustain growth: Infrastructures and Roads led the way in continued needs. Other areas of short term needs are a north bypass around Jonesboro and increased fire protection for the central business district in Jonesboro and south Jonesboro.
Four Way Test
Rusty led the 4-Way Test: First, Is it the truth, Is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, will it be beneficial to all concerned. !
This Week’s Program
Coach Houston Nutt will not be here following the Capitol One Bowl Game in Orlando. He will not be calling the Hogs with the faithful.
Happy New Year to one and all.
See you in 3 months when the thaw has begun. Rickey D.C. |
