Program
Dave Davidson introduced Jason Wilkey who spoke about Jonesboro’s Urban Forest Council. Currently there are 22 Tree Cities in Arkansas and J! onesboro is one of them. There are numerous benefits of trees in a city: economics; they enhance and beautify shopping areas as well as commercial and residential sites. A single tree can add $3000.00 to the value of a home. Health: trees clean the air and exchange carbon dioxide for our healthy oxygen. Hydrology: trees absorb runoff water and filters the water as it returns to the aquifers.
Jason passed out brochures for the Jonesboro Urban Forestry Council explaining in detail the width and depth of the program and also included a tree planting guide.
