Good News
Teresa Ashley started chemo a year ago and now she is completely clear.
Donn Mixon announced his next grandchild will be a boy in December.
Jay Clevenger said that Ben Burris understated his abilities in the vocational minute as he did a great job on his son’s teeth.
Jake Morse complimented what Gary Childress, Jay Clevenger and Bob Troutt have done with the golf tournament thus far.
Program
Dave Davidson introduced Fred Hargett. Fred has been involved in Jonesboro Baseball Boosters for around fifteen years. He got involved when his son started, but has stuck with it since then.
The program started in the late 40’s. Thirty years ago, it was turned over to volunteers and has ran that way since then. It is a 501.C(3) Corporation.
There were over a thousand kids this year ranging from T-Ball through high school. Annual budget is around $200,000. With 1,000 children, they spend around $200 per child.
There are a number of sponsors that have provided the funds to do around $100,000 of additions to Joe Mack Campbell Park.
There were 1,800 games played over the 10 fields at the park. There are rules in place that assure all kids can play. A code of conduct is enforced for coaches, parents and participants.
A fall league was started four years ago.
Ten teams from nine states will play in the Southwest Regional Tournament at the park this weekend. The winner will get to go to the Cal Ripken World Series.
